Wagyu is the healthier choice
“As part of a balanced diet, Wagyu makes a healthier alternative.”
Dr. Dim Crowe, Deakin University School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences
Due to increased awareness and health education, more people are watching their diet. Along with superior flavor and tenderness, Fullblood Wagyu beef is better for you than other types of beef. In fact, according to Dr. Stephen B. Smith from the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University, Wagyu beef is the healthiest meat we can produce as a nation.
Why is Wagyu beef healthier?
Honey Hollow Wagyu beef contains higher levels of mono-unsaturated fatty acids (MUFA). MUFA are known as “good” fat. One type of MUFA is Oleic Acid, which is the primary component in the fat found in beef. Oleic Acid is associated with a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease as it has been shown to lower bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol levels.
“The monounsaturated to saturated fat ratio is higher in Wagyu than in any other beef. Even the saturated fat contained in Wagyu is different. Forty percent is in a version called stearic acid, which is regarded as having a minimal impact in raising cholesterol levels. The profile of marbled Wagyu beef is more beneficial to human health. It can be described as a healthier type of meat.”

Wagyu beef also contains a high concentration of beneficial Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. Omegas are essential to your overall heath, helping your immune system, vision, cell development, and blood clotting. They can also protect against heart disease, arthritis and high blood pressure. Further research has found that a component of Omega 6 fatty acids called conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) can potentially prevent cancer. Wagyu cattle contain the highest amount of CLA per gram of any foodstuff – about 30% more than other beef breeds. The concentration of CLA is even higher in pasture fed cattle like those bred at Honey Hollow Wagyu.
